Bobcat Student Movers began in 2016 with one truck, a couple of friends, and a problem that every MSU student knows too well. Cole Bridger was finishing his degree at Montana State when one too many classmates got stood up by a no-show mover on move-out week — boxes packed, lease ending, and nobody showing up. Cole borrowed a truck, rounded up some strong friends, and started hauling dorm loads and futons up and down residence-hall stairs for people who had run out of options. Word spread fast around campus, and by the next August he was booked solid through move-in week.
What started as a side hustle turned into a real company. Today Bobcat Student Movers runs about six trucks and around a dozen movers — a mix of full-time pros and trained MSU students who work in season and earn an honest paycheck. We are a fully independent local moving company. We own our trucks, we hire and pay our own crew, and we are not a broker, a matching service, or a middleman who farms your move out to whoever bids lowest. When you book us, you get us.
Still Built Around the Student Calendar
Cole never lost the thread that started it all. Bobcat Student Movers is still the crew that shows up for the May move-out crunch and the August move-in scramble, when every U-Haul in town is already spoken for. We keep student moves genuinely affordable — single-room moves from $180, summer storage from $39 a month so nobody has to truck a year of stuff home to Billings and back — and we are just as comfortable moving a Bozeman family across town or a graduate across the country. Parents flying in to help a student move tell us we make the whole thing a lot less stressful, and that is exactly the point.
Licensed, Insured, and Local
We do this by the book. Bobcat Student Movers carries US DOT and MC authority for interstate moves and Montana Public Service Commission household-goods authority for moves within the state, and we keep all of it current. We are bonded and insured, with up to $1,000,000 in cargo coverage per shipment, $0.60-per-pound released-value protection as standard, and full-value coverage available if you want it. Every move starts with a written estimate, so you know the number before we load the first box. One thing to be clear about: we are an independent company and are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or officially connected to Montana State University. We are proud to be run by former Bobcats and to serve the students and families of Bozeman, but we do not speak for the university or act on its behalf.
